CAIRO – 17 February 2023: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry asserted Egypt's full support of stability, peace and prosperity in Tunisia.

This came during his meeting with Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Nabil Ammar on Friday ahead of the 36th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Assembly due to be held on February 18-19 at the level of heads of state and government.

They also exchanged views on the conditions in Libya, he added.

The foreign minister stressed the necessity of backing the constitutional course of the Libyan House of Representatives and the High Council of State to hold presidential and legislative elections, according to the spokesman.

The Tunisian foreign minister stressed the importance of Libya's security for the national security of the two countries, noting that Cairo and Tunis are in full agreement on backing the existing process, conducted under the auspices of the United Nations, to hold elections and support the inter-Libyan solution, he said.
