CAIRO – 18 July 2023: Special Representative of the President of Russia for the Middle East Mikhail Bogdanov welcomed the outcomes of the Sudan Neighboring States Summit that was held in Cairo on July 13.

That was during his meeting with Egyptian Ambassador to Moscow Nazih al-Nagary as they conferred over developments of the civil war in Sudan, according to a press statement released by the Egyptian side on Tuesday.

Bogdanov commended the Egyptian efforts pertaining to the Sudanese crisis, expressing hope that Sudan would restore its peace and stability.

In a similar context, the meeting included talks on preparations for the Russia-Africa Summit taking place in St. Petersburg on July 27-28.

The Egyptian ambassador and the Special Representative of the President of Russia for the Middle East also tackled updates on Palestine and Libya among other regional affairs.

Ambassador Nagary participated in June in a meeting with Ambassador Bogdanov, as well as the ambassadors of Jordan and Palestine, to confer over the situation in Palestinian territories.

Ambassador Bogdanov stressed during the meeting Russia's fixed stance on accomplishing a fair solution to settle the Palestinian Cause, in alignment with pertinent UNSC resolutions, according to an Egyptian statement.

The Egyptian ambassador had also met in the same week with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov Sergey Alexeevich, who is responsible for bilateral relations with North and South America, non-proliferation and arms control, Iran’s nuclear programme and Russia’s participation in the BRICS association.

The ambassador and the deputy minister discussed international affairs of joint interest, updates of bilateral ties, and developments in the Arab World, including the conditions in Libya, Syria, and Sudan.
